The Directorate of Groundnut Research came in to existence
as the first crop product examination unit under the group of National Research
Centers i.e. NRC's of the ICAR. It was set up in the year 1979 to give a boost
to research for improving production of groundnut in care with its significance among-st the oil seed harvests of India. The NRCG was raised to the equal of a
directorate in 2009 and renamed as the DGR or so called Directorate of
Groundnut Research.
