There is a long history of policing through the well-known establishment
of the Kotwal in Delhi. The first Kotwal of Delhi Police is said to be Malikul
Umara Faqruddin. He come to be the Kotwal at an age of 40 in the year 1237 and
was also concurrently allotted as the Naib-Ghibat that is Regent in absence. Due
to his honesty and wisdom he had a very long occupation. It is supposed that
